Melbourne pianist Calvin is an award-winning musician who has won classical piano competitions and received music scholarships all before the age of 18 whilst growing up in Shepparton.
His passion for music ignited when he was 16 and received an invitation to record several original songs as part of the Kool Skools Songwriting and Music Project, which has helped propel the careers of Delta Goodrem, Missy Higgins and other high-profile Australian artists. His involvement in the project also saw him receive three award nominations at the National Kool Skools Industry Awards.
At the age of 18, Calvin moved to Melbourne to further pursue his music studies at Monash University and has since established himself to be Melbourne’s top-rated pianist for weddings, events and functions and given more than 500 public performances.
Calvin’s first major breakthrough came in 2011 when he secured a residency at the RACV Club on Bourke Street in Melbourne’s CBD. Calvin continues to perform at the RACV Club as their resident pianist.
Between 2016 and 2020, Calvin was a member of the electro-pop group The Engagement and toured extensively throughout Victoria whilst recording and releasing several music tracks. Another Year, released in 2019, was co-written by both lead singer David Di Cristoforo and Calvin.
After a trip to Queenstown, New Zealand, in 2022, Calvin was inspired to finally release his first music track as a solo pianist. Calvin is set to release his debut solo piano track “The Adventure Etude” on 29 March 2023 to coincide with World Piano Day.
